Quality & approvals

Tested, stamped, and traceable to the billet

A cylinder is only as good as the test record behind it. Here is exactly what we do to each one before it leaves the gate.

Standards we build to

Approvals and certifications

PESO

Design registration and approval from the Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organisation for each cylinder family.

ISO 11439

The international standard for high-pressure gas cylinders for onboard vehicle storage — the basis of our design qualification.

IS 15490 / BIS

Indian Standard conformity for seamless steel CNG cylinders, with BIS licence and marking.

AIS-028

Automotive Industry Standard covering CNG fuel system components and their type-approval testing.

Our process

Nine checkpoints between billet and dispatch

  • Step 01Incoming material verification

Every billet heat is checked against the mill certificate — chemistry, ultrasonic soundness and dimensional conformity.

  • Step 02Hot forming

Billet piercing and drawing, then hot spinning of the base and the neck on a dedicated cell.

  • Step 03Heat treatment

Quench and temper under a recorded furnace profile; the cycle chart is stored against the batch.

  • Step 04Machining & threading

Neck threading to the specified valve interface, followed by thread gauge verification.

  • Step 05Ultrasonic & visual inspection

Wall thickness mapping and 100% internal/external visual inspection under lighting to ISO 19078.

  • Step 06Hydrostatic proof test

Every cylinder proof-tested; volumetric expansion recorded and compared with the permanent set limit.

  • Step 07Batch destructive testing

Burst, cycle, flattening and tensile tests on samples drawn from each production batch.

  • Step 08Surface treatment & stamping

Shot blasting, powder coating, then permanent stamping of serial, batch, test date and next due date.

  • Step 09Documentation & dispatch

Test certificate generated per unit, QR-linked to the full batch record, and packed with the cylinder.

Common questions

Safety, testing and service life

Under Indian regulations an automotive CNG cylinder must undergo hydrostatic re-testing and visual inspection every three years at an authorised test centre. The next-due date is stamped on the cylinder neck. Driving on an expired cylinder is both unsafe and non-compliant.
Our steel cylinders are designed for an 18-year life from the date of manufacture, subject to passing every three-yearly re-test. Composite cylinders carry a 15-year design life. After the design life expires the cylinder must be permanently de-commissioned, not re-tested.
A type-approved cylinder is substantially stronger than the fuel tank it sits beside. Qualification includes bonfire, drop, penetration and pressure-cycle testing. The valve carries a thermally activated pressure relief device that vents gas safely if the vehicle is exposed to fire. Correct mounting matters as much as the cylinder — which is why we supply matched cradles.
A test certificate specific to that serial number, showing the heat number, batch, hydrostatic test pressure, volumetric expansion result, test date and next-due date, plus the applicable approval references. A QR code on the certificate resolves to the full batch record.
Yes. We produce made-to-order geometries for OEM programmes and specialist applications, including bracketry and PPAP-level documentation. Minimum order quantities and a design review apply — talk to our engineering team.
We run installer training for authorised dealers covering cradle mounting, torque values, leak testing, tubing routing and the statutory paperwork. Training is included in the dealership package and available separately to fleet workshops.
